My life and work evolves around the sensory aspects and aesthetical details of human life. I am intrigued and often inspired by phenomena and themes such as sensory perception, (collective) emotion, (lucid) dreaming, and even the elusiveness of death. Most of my inspiration stems from both daily and deeply personal experiences. Sudden encounters with unexpected loss, the confrontation of my own mortality at quite an early age and my exploration on altered states of consciousness have profoundly formed my view on life on earth and are shaping my artistic approach as a photographer and visual artist.

A few years after graduating at the Fotovakschool in Amsterdam (2009) I continued my education at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague. During the finishing up and receiving of my propaedeutic degree in 2015 my life took a different turn and I decided not to proceed art school. In the years that followed I explored both our external and my internal world, and besides some photographic and graphic assignments I spent most of my time working in a different field.

In 2022 I gave hearing to my yearning for a more unconventional and creative life and swapped my apartment in Haarlem (NL) for a vintage van from which I’ve been working and living until today. Currently I am in the process of redefining the visual artist that resides in me and by (re)working with both my old and new work I aim to refine my visual voice.

I’ll be happy to capture anything that has something to do with our human lifestyle such as the food you serve or the light that descends on your interior. Besides that I’d be more than pleased to create still lifes of life events such as the intimacy of a funeral or the joy at a music festival.
